BOXING: Junior Witter threw away any hopes of an all-British showdown with Amir Khan after surprisingly quitting in his bid to win back the vacant WBC light-welterweight title in California.<br /><br />Sheffield fighter Witter, 35, threw in the towel at the end of eight gruelling rounds with American Devon Alexander.<br /><br />Witter appeared to be slightly behind on the judges&rsquo; scorecard but shocked everyone with his decision to retire.
