Wiggins lands Paris-Nice and emulates hero

LONDONER Bradley Wiggins pulled off one of the biggest wins of his career with victory in the Paris-Nice, becoming the first Briton to claim the race for 45 years.

Team Sky rider Wiggins clinched the triumph in style, winning the final stage time trial in Col d’Eze to beat Dutchman Lieuwe Westra by eight seconds overall.

He is only the second Briton to win the event, dubbed The Race To The Sun, following his childhood hero Tom Simpson in 1967.
