Waterloo unrest as hot weather warps the rail during rush hour

THOUSANDS of passengers were forced to battle with delays and cancellations at Waterloo station last night after the hot weather caused part of the track to buckle.

The warped rail put four platforms out of action, forcing South West Trains to scrap all services to Dorking and Chessington and scramble an army of engineers to fix the problem.

South West apologised to the commuters caught up in the meltdown, and said it hopes to run a normal service today.

Never would have happened in Admiral Nelson’s day.
