Vodafone in talks to buy Kabel Deutschland

BRITISH telecoms giant Vodafone today confirmed that it has made a preliminary approach to German cable company Kabel Deutschland regarding a possible takeover offer.

Vodafone added that there was no certainty of an offer being made.

An acquisition – potentially valued at up to £9bn - has been rumoured for months, as Vodafone looks to expand outside of its core mobile offering. However, speculation was dampened last month after Vodafone signed a deal with Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, allowing it to sell high-speed internet and TV services in the country.
