VIRGIN Atlantic’s chief operating officer is stepping down from the airline, just over three months after missing out on the top job to Craig Kreeger.
The firm said that Julie Southern is leaving on 10 May “to pursue new challenges”.
“She will remain a close friend of the airline and we wish her well,” Virgin Atlantic said in a statement yesterday.
Southern has worked for the carrier since 2000, most recently at the helm of Virgin’s joint venture talks with Delta.
She had been seen as the leading internal candidate for the chief executive role following Steve Ridgway’s retirement.
