Unions strike on Budget Day

CIVIL servants yesterday agreed to start a period of strike action on Budget Day in a dispute over their demand for a five per cent pay rise.

Members of the Public and Commercial Services Union will walkout on 20 March, as chancellor George Osborne delivers his Budget in the House of Commons.

More than 61 per cent of members backed the strike, although turnout was low, with only 70,000 of the union’s 250,000 members voting in the ballot.
