UK Coal set to be bailed out

BRITAIN’S last remaining major coalminer is set to be saved by the government, under a plan that will split the business in two.

UK Coal has faced an uncertain future since a major fire forced the closure of Daw Mill Colliery, leaving it with an enormous closure bill.

The government is now willing to step in and take responsibility for this arm, according to The Sunday Times. The remaining part of the firm will remain in the private sector.
