Rome in high summer is no fun if you aren’t doing it properly. You don’t want to slog miles across the city through the crowds; no, you want the Forum on your doorstep. The luxe Palazzo Manfredi, a 17th century palazzo in the heart of the historical centre of Rome, offers a rather enviable solution, with savings of £167 per person in July and £134 pp in August. Kirker Holidays is offering £811 per person for four nights, including flights, in July and £579 pp in August.

Kempinski is expanding its Russian offering with the Grand Hotel Gelendzhik, on the first line of the Black Sea coast, in Cape Tolstiy on Gelendzhik Bay. The 8-hectare site includes a five-star hotel with 379 rooms, private beach, indoor and outdoor pools, a multi-functional congress centre, an amphitheatre for outdoor events, tennis courts and sports ground, spa centre, aquatic centre, three restaurants, and a children’s playground. Kempinski will also be opening in Baku, Azerbaijan in September, in the all-new Badamdar Complex.
