Tories visit Afghanistan
Foreign secretary William Hague has visited Afghanistan for the first time since taking office, accompanied by defence secretary Liam Fox and development secretary Andrew Mitchell. Fox caused some controversy on the visit, when he suggested the military would have a narrower role in the future, focusing on Britain’s security rather than nation building. He said Britain was not a “global policeman”.
