Tories level with Labour

SUPPORT for the Conservative party has surged to 36 per cent, helping it draw level with Labour for the first time since March last year.

An ICM poll, conducted for the Guardian, also shows Ukip support falling sharply from 18 per cent in May to seven per cent now.

While ICM was the most accurate pollster at the 1997, 2001, and 2010 elections, there remains a broad range of results between recent surveys. A recent YouGov poll puts Labour support at over 40 per cent, while the Tories have just 30 per cent.
