Technology firms demand more growth measures from Osborne

BRITISH technology firms are calling for further growth measures from George Osborne this week, following a report from a collection of MPs that was highly critical of current policy.

Intellect, the trade body for UK technology firms, has written to Osborne calling for a corporation tax subsidy for large firms that mentor smaller ones, an expansion of the Funding for Lending Scheme, and ring-fenced apprenticeship funding for high growth sectors such as technology.

The proposals follow a scathing report from the House of Commons science and technology committee which claimed that the government does not have a coherent strategy to encourage technology startups.
