Talk turns to Neville at Club Wembley’s Gherkin breakfast

ER Manchester United footballer Gary Neville found himself being gently grilled when he joined other sports stars for a breakfast hosted by hospitality group Club Wembley on Friday.

Around 100 sports fans from the Square Mile joined Neville and ex-England cricket captain turned Strictly Come Dancing star Michael Vaughan for brunch.

The Capitalist hears that one guest politely asked Vaughan what he thought about Neville’s new career in TV?

The reply from Vaughan was short but sweet: “Get a new suit!”

Still, not as blunt as Sir Alex Ferguson’s recent analysis of Neville’s new career, when Ferguson not-so-politely suggested his face was more suited to radio.

■ Mayor of London Boris Johnson took to Twitter again this month to address an array of weird and wonderful questions in the latest #AskBoris session. “What’s the one stand out memory from your recent visit to the Gulf?” one tweeter asked. The reply? “It was my talk with a wise sheikh about the sex appeal of camels.” BoJo followers may also be intrigued to learn that of classic Iliad, Odyssey and Aeneid epics, the Mayor’s firm favourite is the first of these: “It remains the first and greatest work of western or any other literature, including the bible.”
