GROWTH in the world’s emerging markets failed to pick up last month, an influential survey reveals this morning.
Economic expansion slowed further in China, Brazil and Russia, weighing down on the HSBC emerging markets index.
The index stuck at 51.4 in May, the same as its April score.
All scores above 50 are positive, yet growth was stronger a year earlier, in May 2012, when the index was at 53.2.
Conditions improved in India, however, where the index climbed to 52 in May – up from 50.5 in April.
