Sackey signs up with Toulon
RUGBY UNION: England winger Paul Sackey has signed a two-year deal to join Jonny Wilkinson at French side Toulon when he leaves Wasps in the summer.
Sackey, 30, announced he was leaving Wasps last week after making over 100 appearances for the club and helping them to two Premiership titles.
He joins a mass exodus of English players moving to France including ex-Wasps and England team-mates James Haskell, Tom Palmer and Riki Flutey, who left for the continent last summer.
He joins Wilkinson, Tom May, Joe El-Abd and Dean Schofield at the Top 14 side.
India complete innings victory
CRICKET: India consolidated their place as the world’s No1 Test side after completing an innings victory over South Africa in the second Test in Kolkata. Needing 348 to make India bat again, the Proteas were bowled out for just 290, despite a battling 123no from Hashim Amla – his second century of the match. Spinner Harbhajan Singh claimed figures of 5-59 as India levelled the two-match series at 1-1.
Hurdle hope suffers shock defeat
HORSE RACING: Trainer Nicky Henderson refused to panic after leading Champions Hurdle hope Zaynar suffered a shock defeat in his warm-up for next month’s Cheltenham Festival at Kelso yesterday.
Despite going off as 1-14 favourite in the Morebattle Chase, he lost out to Quwetwo in a disappointing run.
Solwhit is now the new 7-2 favourite for the Champion Hurdle, but Henderson was undeterred, saying: “These things can happen – it is a horse race.”
