Somerset hold their nerve to win through Twenty20 Cup bowl-out

SOMERSET became only the second county to prevail in a Twenty20 Cup bowl-out after their quarter-final with Lancashire at Old Trafford was rained off for a third time.<br /><br />Alfonso Thomas twice hit the unguarded indoor stumps to help the west country side win through 5-1 and book a last-four meeting with Kent on finals day.<br /><br />It was the first match decided by a bowl-out since Surrey beat Warwickshire in July 2005 when the teams finished level in a rain-affected match.<br /><br />Also through to the Edgbaston showdown on 15 August is Northamptonshire, who take on Sussex after beating 50-over kings Hampshire by 13 runs.<br /><br />South African Andrew Hall was the star, scoring an unbeaten 39 in Northants&rsquo; total of 134-6 before taking three Hampshire wickets.
