Singapore Airlines spends $17bn

Singapore Airlines yesterday agreed to spend $17bn (£11.2bn) to buy 30 Airbus and 30 Boeing aircraft, as part of a strategy overhaul. The significant orders make Singapore Airline the long-awaited launch customer for a proposed stretched version of the 787 Dreamliner, boosting Boeing’s plans to offer a 320-seat aircraft designed in large part for crowded intra-Asian routes.
