RETAIL insolvencies jumped by 25 per cent in the second quarter compared to the same time last year, according to figures from the Insolvency Service last week and analysed by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Despite signs of confidence returning to the market, retail failures will still 29 per cent ahead of the previous quarter and significantly above the nine per cent rise in total corporate insolvencies seen in the quarter, the law firm added.
