SHANKS, the waste management company, yesterday named chief financial officer at TomTom Marina Wyatt as its first female director.

Wyatt, who joined the satellite navigation company in 2005 after holding a similar role at Colt Telecom, became an independent non-executive director at the firm yesterday.

She will also sit on the group’s audit committee, remuneration committee and nomination committee from the end of July onwards.

Group chairman Adrian Auer said: “She brings extensive financial leadership expertise with quoted companies and has a wealth of international experience, including working in the Netherlands though her current role at TomTom.”

Wyatt has held similar non-executive roles at Symbian and Blackwell Publishing.

Wyatt joins the current board, which includes chief executive Peter Dilnot.
