Salamander drills well off Thailand

Asia-focused oil and gas explorer Salamander Energy announced yesterday that it has commenced a multi-well exploration programme in the Gulf of Thailand. The firm aims to drill six exploration wells in the area, known as Block G4/50, during the course of this year, with more scheduled for 2014. Spanning over 5,800 square kilometres, the block “contains five sub-basins, four of which have a proven oil source,” Salamander said. In May the company said its production was ahead of budget at around 18,000 barrels of oil per day.
