Roque on target in five-star City rout

<strong>MANCHESTER CITY (5)</strong> vs <strong>SCUNTHORPE (1)</strong><br /><br />STRIKER Roque Santa Cruz opened his account for Manchester City as the Blues booked their place in the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion.<br /><br />Scunthorpe put up initial resistance, Jonathan Forte equalising after Stepehen Ireland had given the home side the lead. But further goals from &pound;18m summer signing Santa Cruz, Joleon Lescott, Carlos Tevez and Michael Johnson buried the Championship outfit.<br /><br />Midfielder Ireland took just two and a half minutes to score, gathering a Shaun Wright-Phillips pass and stroking past Joe Murphy.<br /><br />But City were embarrassed on 26 minutes when a one-two set up Forte for an easy finish.<br /><br />Santa Cruz soon reasserted the home side&rsquo;s superiority, however, and struck a long-awaited first goal in City colours, heading home Pablo Zabaleta&rsquo;s cross.<br /><br />Lescott met a Wright-Phillips corner for the third and Tevez finished a cross from substitute Vladimir Weiss before Johnson capped the goal-fest with a thumping 25-yard drive.
