BRITISH No1 Laura Robson finds herself in unfamiliar territory today, when she goes into her match with qualifier Mariana Duque-Marino as favourite and bidding to reach the third round at Wimbledon for the first time.
The Colombian, ranked 117th in the world and 79 places below Robson, is making her first appearance at the All England Club since 2010 and has never been past the second round of a grand slam.
However, Robson describes Duque-Marino as “consistent” and knows her opponent possesses “a nasty little slice” in her weaponry.
The pair will meet in the final scheduled match on Court Two today after potential third round opponent Shuai Peng, the No24 seed from China, plays New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic.
Five-time champion Serena Williams faces 19-year-old Caroline Garcia, while Novak Djokovic continues his defence against American qualifier Bobby Reynolds.
