Roberts claims Senior Open

GOLF: Sam Torrance carded a three-under-par final round of 67 at the Senior Open Championship but could not prevent America&rsquo;s Loren Roberts from taking the title.<br /><br />Former Ryder Cup captain and City A.M. columnist Torrance finished fifth on 10 under par, one stroke behind Bernhard Langer and two adrift of Roberts, Fred Funk and Mark McNulty.<br /><br />Roberts, who also won the title in 2006, claimed victory at Sunningdale yesterday on the third extra hole of a three-man play-off.<br /><br />Elsewhere, Argentina&rsquo;s Ricardo Gonzalez sank five birdies in the last six holes to finish on 10 under par and win the SAS Masters in Malmo by two shots from Welshman Jamie Donaldson.
