Residents accept Heathrow

Two-thirds of residents living near Heathrow think the benefits of the airport outweigh the costs for their community, according to a poll of 6,000 by Populus. The survey, commissioned by Heathrow, found that 46 per cent of residents support expansion at the site, while 43 per cent oppose a bigger airport. The findings compare to a referendum in two west London boroughs last month that found 72 per cent were against a third runway.
