RALPH Topping will continue in his role as chief executive of William Hill until at least the end of 2015, the bookmaker announced today.

William Hill said in 2011 that Topping, who has worked at the company for 43 years, would remain at the company until at least the end of 2013, but at today’s annual meeting this period was extended.

Chairman Gareth Davis said that the board is “delighted” that Topping will remain with the group for longer, to guide the company through an ongoing transformational period.

Regarding Topping’s successor, Davis said that the company – which joined the FTSE 100 on 1 May – would look internally first for candidates and is “developing a cadre of talented senior management”.
