LOTUS driver Kimi Raikkonen hopes he can challenge for Formula One’s title, having won the first race of the new season yesterday.
The Finn, who won his only F1 title in 2007, took the chequered flag in Melbourne in one hour, 30 minutes and three seconds.
“You can’t start the season much better than winning the first race and of course we hope we can be fighting at the front of the championship, but there’s still a long way to go,” Raikkonen said.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and current champion Sebastian Vettel, of Red Bull, completed the podium. British trio Lewis Hamilton, Paul di Resta and Jenson Button finished fifth, eighth and ninth respectively.
