PZ Cussons expects a return to growth

CONSUMER goods group PZ Cussons said this morning it has been trading in line with expectations since the start of January, with promotions helping UK sales and growing momentum in its Asian business.

PZ Cussons, whose products include Imperial Leather soap and St Tropez tanning products, said conditions remain challenging in most of its markets in an interim management statement.

The group said its Nigerian business has improved, but it remains concerned that unrest in the north of the country is continuing to hit sales.

The FTSE 250 firm, led by Alex Kanellis, is cutting costs to try and offset pressure on its sales, and expects a "return to profitable growth" for the full year.
