BLOCK MANAGEMENT REVOLUTION
A computer programme called “Blockcare”, designed to manage the administration of small apartment blocks, has been launched by managing agent Ringley Group. The software could significantly lower the fees that leaseholders are charged by traditional managing agents – up to 90 per cent over the course of a year. There is a range of programs, none requiring prior experience of managing property. For more info, see www.leaseholdersupport.co.uk
FUTURE BRIGHT FOR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
The UK commercial property market is in good shape, according to the latest survey by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. 18 per cent more surveyors expected new sales and lettings to increase in the next three months than predicted a decrease, the highest proportion since the credit crunch. But while the demand for prime London office space is buoyant, other sectors of the market still face “significant challenges”.
BROADBAND COULD BOOST YOUR HOUSE PRICE
A fast and reliable broadband service could add value to the price of your home, says a survey by internet advice website ISPreview. A poll of 733 respondents revealed that almost two thirds of Brits would be discouraged from buying “a beautiful property” if it lacked a high speed broadband connection. This is a glimmer of good news for homeowners hoping to sell this year, in what are turbulent times for the UK property market.
