PROPERTY industry leaders have backed calls by Boris Johnson to keep London’s £1.3bn stamp duty receipts to fund a massive house-building programme in the capital.

Over 300 property specialists at the annual LandAid Debate at City Hall on Wednesday debated key issues impacting London’s future development, with a majority also calling for airport capacity to the east of London rather than the west.

Sir Edward Lister, deputy mayor for planning, said: “To cope with the pressures of a growing population, we need a massive programme of investment in infrastructure.”
