Portsmouth on the brink of takeover

CASH-STRAPPED Portsmouth are on the brink of salvation, after an out-of-court settlement paved the way for a takeover by their supporters.

Administrators BDO struck a deal with Portpin to relinquish their control of Pompey’s Fratton Park home, the final condition to the Portsmouth Supporters’ Trust completing their takeover.

The deal was done outside the High Court, where a hearing on whether BDO could force a sale of the stadium to PST was due but eventually only lasted minutes.

Portsmouth risked losing their Football League membership had they failed to exit administration by the end of the season.
