Plans set out for Thames crossing

The options for a new road crossing over the Thames were revealed yesterday, as the government asked for input from the public on the three possible sites. A new bridge could be built at the existing Dartford crossing, at the A2 near Tilbury, or further east to connect the M25 with the M2, the government said yesterday. The new lower Thames crossing will cost between £1.2bn and £5bn, and a decision is expected in the autumn.
