Pirc warns on Great Portland audit

Investor body Pirc yesterday called on investors in property firm Great Portland Estates to vote against keeping Deloitte as auditor. Great Portland chairman Martin Scicluna was chairman of Deloitte until 2007, and finance director Nick Sanderson has also worked for the professional services giant. Pirc said investors should oppose Deloitte’s reappointment at the annual meeting on 4 July. More than 13 per cent of investors voted against Deloitte last year. The FTSE 250-listed company said in its annual report that Deloitte, which has been auditor since 2003, has been deemed sufficiently independent and effective.
