MINTS ARE THE NEW BRICS
After the success of the Brics, Fidelity is asking whether Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey (Mints) are the investment opportunities of the next decade. Fidelity says “Mints may just have the potential to be as rewarding for investors over the next ten years as BRICs have been in the past ten.” Vietnam, Philippines, South Africa, Malaysia and Colombia also offer potential. Presumably we currently lack a vowel to turn them into an anagram.
LONDON‘S FIRST TIME BUYERS PAY
Research from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks shows that the price gap is widening between London and other parts of the country for first time house buyers. In the North East, the average cost paid for a first time buyer is £100,831, while it is £260,261 in London. These average prices for first time buyers are lower in most areas than previous years, with prices in the South East £16,566 lower than in 2007, but just £5,403 lower in London.
