Owen eyes Melbourne for Panther

HORSE RACING: Brown Panther is being aimed at the Melbourne Cup after the Michael Owen-owned five-year-old won yesterday’s Goodwood Cup. Jockey Richard Kingscote steered the Tom Dascombe-trained horse home by three and a half lengths from Ahzeemah and Altano. Former England footballer Owen said: “As long as he didn’t bomb out we were thinking Irish St Leger and then Melbourne Cup, so, on that performance, I don’t see why we should change our mind.”
