Online retail sales jump in May

Online sales jumped 16 per cent in May despite customers spending less per basket, according to figures released yesterday by IMRG and Capgemini. The average value of a basket of goods declined to £77, down from £83 and £86 in 2012 and 2011. Sales through mobile devices jumped 148 per cent, although this was the lowest rate of increase for this sub-section of sales since the index started in April 2000.
