O2 arena taken off the market

THE O2 arena has been taken off the market after US tycoon Philip Anschutz failed to find a buyer for the venue’s owner, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG).

AEG, which also owns David Beckham’s former football team LA Galaxy, a stake in the LA Lakers basketball team and more than 100 other music venues, was put up for sale in September but yesterday Anschutz said “the right buyer” had not been found.

Ending the sale process means Tim Leiweke, who has been chief executive of AEG since 1996, will leave the company.
