O2 and BT team up for business
Mobile network provider O2 said yesterday that it is teaming up with BT to launch its first fixed-line offering to businesses.
Telefonica-owned O2 said its has partnered with BT Wholesale to create Joined Up, a new product which will provide business customers with mobile and fixed-line services, along with data, broadband communications, equipment and professional consultancy.
Ben Dowd, business sales director for O2 in the UK, said that the firm had already won some large corporate accounts, and said that it aims to be the “number one communications integrator” by 2012.
“We wouldn’t be entering this space if we didn’t feel there was a significant opportunity for us, which we absolutely do. With the combined strength of O2 and Telefonica it’s a big opportunity,” he said.
Details of the package are still to be announced, but will include benefits such as free outbound fixed-line calls to O2 mobile and vice-versa.
O2 already has nearly 500,000 fixed land-line broadband customers, although its existing packages are predominantly more designed for consumer, rather than business, requirements.
