O’Driscoll gets three week ban

IRELAND centre Brian O’Driscoll has been found guilty of stamping on Italy’s Simone Favaro and handed a three week suspension by an independent Six Nations Disciplinary Committee.

The 34-year-old, winning his 125th cap, was sin-binned in Rome and subsequently cited.

O’Driscoll was found guilty of a mid-range offence, but deducted two weeks from his punishment for previous good behaviour.

“A reduction of two weeks of mitigation was allowed, particularly taking into account the player’s exemplary previous playing and disciplinary record,” said a statement from the Six Nations.
