HERE ARE THE ALTERNATIVES
Renault Twizy, from £6,795
Do you really need all of the space that comes with most cars? If you commute solo, the Twizy could be for you. It seats two in tandem, has a range of 60 miles and a full charge takes only six hours. It’s chilly in winter, but great fun in the summer.
Renault Zoe, from £13,995
Renault’s Zoe has a range of up to 130 miles and a top speed of 84mph. Targeted at urban owners, it rocks some pretty stylish curves. While it offers good value for money, you have to add the cost of the battery lease, which is at least £70 per month.
Volvo V60 Plug-In Hybrid, £43,775
A top speed of 142mph, a fuel economy figure of 155mpg and a potential range of 560 miles, this Volvo V60 is the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid. It can do 31 miles on electricity alone, but the price means it won’t be worth it unless your journey into the City is under that distance.
