New York launches Citi Bike scheme

THREE years after the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme – nicknamed Boris Bikes – was launched in London, New York has got its own version of the bike sharing programme. As of yesterday, 6,000 blue bikes emblazoned with sponsor Citi’s logo will be available to tourists and residents at 330 docking stations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. More than 9,000 people have already signed up.
