New SEC boss promises tough enforcement

MARY Jo White, the nominee to head the Securities and Exchange Commission, plans to tell US lawmakers today that she will bring a “bold and unrelenting” enforcement programme to the agency if she is confirmed by the Senate. “Investors and all market participants need to know that the playing field of our markets is level and that all wrongdoers ... will be aggressively pursued,” White will say in prepared remarks ahead of her confirmation hearing.
