Nestle hit by cold weather

Nestle’s underlying sales growth slowed to 4.3 per cent in the first quarter, underperforming its rival Danone, the firm said yesterday. Nestle said unrest disrupted business in the Middle East and chilly spring weather hit bottled water and ice-cream sales. Sales at the world’s largest food company rose to SFr21.9bn (£15.43bn) but fell short of an analyst forecasts.
