Murphy sends Fulham top

<strong>FULHAM (1) </strong>vs <strong>FC BASEL (0)</strong><br /><br />FULHAM climbed to the top of their Europa League group with a hard-fought victory over Swiss side FC Basel.<br /><br />Captain Danny Murphy fired home the game&rsquo;s only goal on 58 minutes after being set up by striker Andrew Johnson.<br /><br />Johnson was a threat throughout, and had a late penalty appeal turned down, although the Cottagers were grateful to keeper Mark Schwarzer who denied Mark Chipperfield in the final minute.<br /><br />The result ensured Fulham went top of Group E after Roma beat CSKA Sofia 2-0 in the other match.<br /><br /><strong>Everton</strong> also enjoyed a hard-fought win after they came from behind to beat Belarusian side BATE Borisov 2-1.<br /><br />Dmitri Likhtarovich gave the hosts a first half lead with a stunning 35-yard effort before Marouane Fellaini equalised for the Toffees with his first of the season.<br /><br />Then, nine minutes later, Tim Cahill headed home the winner from Diniyar Bilyaletdinov&rsquo;s flick-on to make it two wins from two for David Moyes&rsquo; men.
