Movies bring home the bacon for Peppa Pig company eOne

ENTERTAINMENT ONE (eOne), the firm behind the Peppa Pig children’s franchise and the Twilight and Hunger Games films, yesterday announced that it will pay its maiden dividend after posting a 25 per cent rise in annual profits.

The firm, which became the largest independent film company in the world last year when it acquired Canada’s Alliance Films, said it had been especially boosted by a roster of film releases such as the final Twilight title, sending box office receipts rising 79 per cent during the year.

The company also benefited from extending Peppa Pig’s global reach, including a US launch last year, and eOne’s continuing progress will allow it to pay its first-ever dividend next year, chief executive Darren Throop said.

Profits reached £53.8m for the year, while sales were up to £629m.
