CHELSEA have learned they will meet Inter Milan in the first round of the Guinness International Champions Cup in America this summer, following yesterday’s draw.
The Blues, who could have Jose Mourinho back in charge for the fixture on 1 August, are set to take on one of the self-proclaimed Special One’s former clubs at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The eight-team tournament kicks off on 27 July when Valencia play AC Milan at the Mestalla Stadium.
Action moves across the Atlantic when Everton take on Juventus at the AT&T Park in San Francisco on 31 July and the final knock-out tie pits two of former England captain David Beckham’s old clubs against each other, when Real Madrid take on LA Galaxy at the University of Phoenix Stadium on 1 August.
The winning teams will progress to the semi-finals, with the losers to play-off for position.
The final is scheduled to take place at the Sun Life Stadium, home of two-time Superbowl winners Miami Dolphins, on 7 August – 10 days before the start of the new Premier League season.
