More papers in Met probe

SCOTLAND Yard’s investigation into newspaper corruption has extended to include the publishers of the Mirror and Star newspapers, the officer leading the Metropolitan Police’s investigation into illicit payments revealed yesterday.

Deputy assistant commissioner Sue Akers told the Leveson inquiry that Trinity Mirror and Express Newspapers were being probed.

Trinity Mirror said they were taking the matter seriously and co-operating with the police. Express Newspapers, which owns the Star, did not comment.
