Minister backs mums at work

CABINET minister Maria Miller yesterday told City A.M. that helping to get women back to work after having children should not be the sole responsibility of employers.

“It’s the responsibility of employers and employees,” she said. “I knew in myself that I wanted to continue to work [after having children] and that was an important part in making it a success.”

She was speaking at the launch of the Women’s Business Council report into tapping female economic potential, which found £160bn could be added to the economy by 2030 if more women worked.
