Microsoft users get free update

MICROSOFT has promised that the next update to its Windows 8 software will be free, following disappointing sales of the current operating system.

Windows 8.1, as the new software will be called, is expected to introduce a host of changes later this year to make traditional Microsoft users more comfortable. Users have criticised the radically re-designed Windows 8, which was released at the end of last year, as being difficult to get to grips with, and Microsoft’s changes have been dubbed a U-turn.
