Lord Strathclyde to join Trafigura board

COMMODITY trading giant Trafigura has appointed Lord Strathclyde, the Tory peer and former leader of the House of Lords, to its board as a non-executive director, the Financial Times said yesterday. Lord Strathclyde used to be on the board of Trafigura’s hedge-fund arm but stood down in 2009 in preparation for the last general election. At the time he left the board Trafigura was attracting controversy for its approach to toxic waste disposal in the Ivory Coast.
