LAW firm Baker & McKenzie will this morning promote 71 new lawyers to its partnership, including London-based tax specialist James Wilson.
The 71-strong partner round – up from 63 last year – brings the total number of partners across the firm’s 74 offices to 1,450, with the majority of the promotions in the M&A practice group.
Across Europe, the Middle East and Asia 25 lawyers were named partner, with a further 19 in Asia-Pacific, 18 in North America and nine in Latin America.
Thirty-two per cent of the new partners are female.
Wilson, who joined Baker & McKenzie in 2002 and has worked in both the London and Washington offices, advised US electronics store Best Buy earlier this year when it offloaded its part in a joint venture with the Carphone Warehouse – Carphone Warehouse Europe – to the mobile phone retailer for £471m.
