London rent rises 11 per cent since 2005

HOUSE rental prices in London have risen by 11 per cent since May 2005, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics today.

Prices have risen by 8.4 per cent in England overall during the period.

From May 2012 to May 2013, rental prices in London have increased by 2.2 per cent and in the South East of England by 1.2 per cent.

Rental prices decreased by 0.1 per cent in the North East during the same period.

New statistics from Halifax also released today showed that the highest average house prices in London are in Mayfair, at almost £1.5m, while the lowest are in Old Kent Road, at around £192m.
